Our Mission
Urban neighborhoods are street-connected and lined with sidewalks interspersed with parks and community gathering spaces, ripe for participative physical fitness opportunity. Paradoxically, urban residents tend to have higher rates of obesity and inactivity as compared to their suburban counterparts, whose neighborhoods lack such spaces.
FitConnect is designed to motivate users working out in a group setting, unlike other apps which track personal fitness only. FitConnect awards experience points and achievements based upon participating in, organizing and leading group activities, exploring new spaces, trying new experiences and reaching goals together.
About the X-Cats
Team 191 is a diverse family and community-oriented Hall of Fame FIRST Robotics team and one of the remaining founding teams in FIRST. In a district that struggles to exceed a graduation rate of over 48%, the X-Cats have a graduation rate of nearly 100% with most attending college. Our mission is to inspire today's youth without regard to race, sex or national origin. We strive to have the team of adults and students reflect the ethnic and gender diversity within our community, Xerox and the Rochester City School district. We actively recruit students who need and want support in planning for their futures.
The inspiration of the student participants on our team is our number one priority. We strive to motivate people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math, while building self confidence, knowledge and life skills. We are building people as much as robots.
